Mystery/Thriller Reading Friends - Miscellaneous Book Talk: Books-A-Trillion Showing 1-12 of 12 (2025)

Hey, guys! I haven't been around much for some time due to family issues, illness and my mother passing away. Hope to get better about posting and also about my own reading! Anyway, was wondering if any of you belong to or use Books-A-Trillion? I had never heard of it until a friend asked me about it. If you do, or have, used it do you like it? Any info appreciated!

Hi Melodie, it is so good to hear from you. I was very sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing and hope the health issues have greatly improved. I am not familiar with Books a Trillion, will have to look it up.

good to "see" you again, mel. so very sorry about your mother- it's never easy to lose our mothers, no matter how old we are.
i have never even heard of books a trillion, so can't be any help there.

I googled books-a trillion, results did not paint a glowing picture of it. Scam monitoring sites say it is safe, and not scamming you, less official results say it does not properly compensate authors for what you read. Personally, I will wait and see how this plays out.

Mel, sorry to hear about the family concerns. As to the site, I have no info.

What's hinky to me is the name. Books-A-Trillion is incredibly similar to Books-A-Million, so much so that I wouldn't be surprised if the latter didn't sue them over it. It's like somebody creating a metal band and calling it Lead Zeppelin or Lincoln Park. It makes me wonder if they aren't hoping that people will confuse the two or make the assumption that they're associated in some way, like Books-A-Trillion is BAM's version of the Kindle Store. I could see people making that mistake.

I had never heard of it either, and thought my friend meant BAM when she first asked about it. Then I googled it and found it was something different. I knew if you guys hadn't heard of it either it might be shady. Thanks a lot! I'll let her know!

Melodie: I agree with Jason about the very misleading and confusing name. (Books-a-Trillion) If I was Books-a-Million I would not be happy at all.
I also found the pay plans odd - $49.99 LIFETIME membership or $9.99 a month. That doesn't really add up for sustainability.

Mel, I'm so glad to see you and very sorry to hear about your mother and your other family concerns. You mentioned she was ill and I feared something had happened. Take good care.
