Rev for Trev tractor run aims to drive mental health change (2025)

More than just a show of horsepower, Rev for Trev is a heartfelt event born from tragedy, determined to drive real change in mental health awareness – especially among young people and those in rural and farming communities.

Rev for Trev 2025 will take place on Sunday, May 11, at Mountrath mart (Eircode R32 P8F3), Co Laois.

Rev for Trev was set up in memory of Trevor Wallace, a young farmer from Mountrath, who passed away suddenly in May 2021 at just 36 years of age.

Trevor was well known across the country for his fencing work through the family business, Wallace Fencing, and for his time spent at Gurteen Agricultural College.

He was respected by many not only for his work ethic and skill, but also for his character, a kind and generous man with a passion for farming and the people around him, according to Lee Walker of the Rev for Trev organising team.

Following Trevor’s passing, his family and friends came together to honour his memory in a way that reflected both his life and values and to campaign for change in mental health.

The result was Rev for Trev, a community-driven tractor run that raises money for mental health charities and encourages open conversations around suicide, wellbeing, and emotional support, as well as campaigning for change in the area of mental health.

This year’s event once again promises a day of remembrance, connection, and purpose. Alongside the main tractor run, there will be a children’s tractor run, food stalls, a barbecue,

Mental health

Rev for Trev 2025 is fundraising for two charites, Teac Tom and Jigsaw, both of which will be represented at the event.

Teac Tom, based in Kilkenny and Laois, was founded by Angela Hayes in 2015 after the loss of her son, Thomas, to suicide. Teac Tom offers free immediate access to counselling services, as well as support for families, schools, and communities facing the ripple effects of suicide. Its work is deeply personal, powerful, and urgently needed.

Jigsaw, operating nationally and with a centre in Laois, provides mental health support for young people aged 12 to 25. Its services include free one-to-one support, mental health workshops in schools, and community engagement projects. At the heart of its work is a belief that no young person should feel alone, unsupported, or unheard.

Rev for Trev’s Lee Walker said: ‘In a time when mental health challenges continue to rise, especially among young farmers, who often face long hours, isolation, and financial stress, events like Rev for Trev are vital.”

‘Farming is more than a profession in Ireland; it’s a way of life. But like any way of life, it can be tough. Talking about those challenges can be tougher still. Rev for Trev helps break down those walls, working for change.”

The organisers invite everyone — locals, families, tractor enthusiasts, and supporters — to take part in Rev for Trev 2025, whether by joining the run, making a donation, or simply showing up to stand in solidarity with a cause that affects us all.

As the tractors roll out once again in Trevor’s memory, the message is clear: it is okay to talk, it is okay to ask for help, and you are never alone.
